January 2019: Installation Phase – Project complete
Legacy by Mark Leichliter, a 55” x 52” stainless steel art panel featuring the silhouette of an electrical lineman, was installed by the City’s Power staff. The design was inspired images provided by Jill Hood, City Electrical Distribution Designer, who approached the Visual Arts Commission about creating an arts panel for the front façade of the downtown power cabinet, which will provide electricity to downtown special events. The support structure, created by Power Department staff, was constructed of an art-deco style electrical pole originally installed in the Big Thompson Canyon during the 1920s. The plaque inscription reads:
A tribute to the linemen of the past,
In honor of those today,
With gratitude to those of our future.
Constructed from steel poles that supported Loveland’s first power system in the 1920s,
this structure stands as a source of power for our community events.
A fitting tribute to those working so hard to “keep us up and running.”
