Project Overview, June 2020

The City of Loveland Art in Public Places is accepting Requests for Qualifications for sculptural concrete panels to be installed at the Crossroads Power Substation located along N. Boyd Lake Avenue in northeast Loveland. This project is open to any professional artist (or artist team) with demonstrated experience in creating signature concrete relief artwork of a large scale. The selected artist(s) will be responsible for the design, fabrication and delivery of these panels ready-to-install at the site.

Scope and Project Description

In fall 2020, the Power Department will install a large concrete wall along the perimeter of the Crossroads power substation located along N. Boyd Lake Avenue near the Fort Collins/Loveland Municipal Airport and Northern Colorado Law Enforcement Training Center. There is a strong desire to include public artwork along the 321 ‘I x 12’h fa9ade of this substation due to its high visibility and close proximity to residential units and local businesses. The installed artwork will be located within the sight lines of motorists and passersby.

The final design of the perimeter wall has not been determined for the site. The artist(s) selected for this project will interact with City staff and the Contractor executing this project to determine final placement and dimensions for the artwork. Installation of the artistic concrete panels is desired by early 2021.
