Five artworks landed at the Northern Colorado Regional Airport (FNL). Daryl Thetford’s four graphic, mixed-media murals will surround the baggage area. Layering vintage photos, drawings of the airport itself, and renderings of mountains and local wildlife, Daryl’s art is playful, dynamic, and a reflection of the ever-evolving Front Range.
Matt Baral’s suspended artwork, Jet Streams, takes its shape from the lenticular clouds so common in Colorado skies. Made of three layers, the artwork references jet streams, snow-covered peaks, and yule marble quarried from the Elk Mountains in west-central Colorado.
2023 Nebula by Sandra Nelsen
AT THE 1ST STREET BRIDGE
Sandra Nelsen created Nebula in 2013 for the corner park at the 3rd & Lincoln Plaza knowing that their home was temporary. The 32-mosaic panels were removed in 2018 to make way for The Foundry development; however, the intention was to reinstall the artwork in a more permanent location within the City. That time came when the Public Works Department built the new 1st Street Bridge in 2023.
Four large end panels were installed onto the 1st Street Bridge, completing this capital project. These mosaic panels add timeless elegance to this well-traveled corridor.

AT THE RIALTO THEATER'S DEVEREAUX ROOM
Aaron Harel, a talented drummer and visual artist, completed his up-cycled artwork of drum shells just before the holiday season was in full swing at the Rialto Theater. The 20’ expanse of colorful cascading forms enlivens the space and allowed Aaron to explore his medium on a large scale. The result is captivating!
2023 Ace! by Mark Leichliter
ACE!, A NEW STAINLESS STEEL SCULPTURE INSTALLTED AT THE OLDE COURSE IN LOVELAND
“Hey, this piece is about fun — why not engage in a bit of fantasy while we’re at it?” stated the artist.
Sculptor Mark Leichliter created Ace! with that concept in mind while designing his 19 ft. x 4 ft. stylized representation of a golf ball rolling into a cup constructed of stainless steel.

It’s a joy to see this large 96 ft. long, 13-ton sculpture reinstalled in a new home near The Ranch along the east side of the Interstate. We thank Larimer County for making this location a possibility!

Loveland by internationally known artist Key Detail is finished, and the mural looks fantastic! You can’t miss this colorful art on the storage building at Sunnyside Park, 899 E. Fifth Street.

“My design is centered around the essential custom of gathering together as people from different backgrounds to share in a love of reading and learning,” said Jeremy Jarvis. “The children depicted in these portraits each share a look of joy and radiate with a glowing sense of companionship.”
2022 Madre Natura by Don Rimx
MADRE NATURA BY DON RIMX AT THE BEET EDUCATION CENTER
In September, the artist known as “Don Rimx” created a colorful mosaic-like mural reflecting the history of Loveland with mother nature. The mural is located at the corner of 5th and Cleveland on the Beet Education Center building. Seven outstanding community members from across the Front Range worked with the artist to help paint this mural in Downtown Loveland.
2022 Message in a Bottle by Art of Anón
COMMUNITY PARTICIPATES IN MURAL AT THE LOVELAND RECYCLING CENTER
Loveland Art in Public Places and the Public Works Department dedicated the new mural, Message in a Bottle by Art of Anón, on Friday, July 22, 2022. This new mural celebrates the positive impact of the community's recycling efforts and the interconnected nature of humans and the natural world.
Over a hot, dry summer weekend (July 9 and 10), over 200 residents participated in a Community Paint event, working alongside the artists, Jhonattan and Samantha Arango. Message in a Bottle is the first public artwork installation at Loveland's Recycling Center.
Transformations
The Transformations Project, a collaboration between Art in Public Places and the Loveland Power Department, was developed specifically to bring art to the streets and showcase the plethora of talented Northern Colorado painters. Since its inception in 2009, 84 electrical cabinets located along major roadways (and other highly visible locations) have served as creative canvases for one-of-a-kind murals; thus transforming everyday objects into unique works of art. There are currently 77 transformed cabinets engaging the Loveland community. (Seven early designs have been “retired from service” due to equipment failures.)
